Note: We will meet at McDonald’s @ Drusilla @ 6:15AM to carpool to New Orleans

Where: Botanical Gardens at City Park, New Orleans

NOTE
: This FIELD TRIP is in CONJUNCTION with the GNOCC

Mike Brouphy  has found someone to let us in at 8AM

Purpose: Flower Photography

Intent: I will spend the first 45 minutes (more or less) discussing what one can expect while photographing flowers:
a. wind
b. bugs
c. harsh light
d. bad light
e. more wind
f. wet ground
g. rocky ground
h. bad background

I will spend time working with participants & their equipment
Things to bring:
a. a tripod (with short or no centerpost)
b. a Tripod with adjustable legs that spread out
c. an electronic shutter release (timers wear out the battery)
d. small sharp scissors (got mine at Office Depot)
e. pocketknive?
f. desktop tripod: (you know: the small one that you never use because its too flimsy!)

Break for lunch around 11:30; answer all questions

II. When: June 8, 2013

Note: We will meet at McDonald’s @ Drusilla at 6:30AM to Carpool to Mississippi Locations

We should be back in BR by 6-6:30PM

Where: Mississippi Locations:

     1. Windsor Ruins
     2. Rodney, MS (almost a ghost town)
     3. General Store, Lorman, MS (best fried chicken I’ve had!)
     4. Alcorn State University
     5. Church Hill, MS (oldest Episcopal church in MS)

III.When: June    , 2013 (no firm date yet)

Where: Global WildLife Center, Folsom, LA

The Global Wildlife Center now offers Private Pinzgauer  Tours for Photographers.  Each Pinz is 4X4; it can go anywhere we want to go in the 900 acre Park.  Apparently many of the 4000 animal species do not go up to the regular wagon tours; they are not afraid to approach the Pinz.

Good News: the Pinz Tours are very popular; Reservations are required.  Saturdays & Sundays are the busiest.

Bad News: the Pinz Tours can accommodate 9 photographers;
The cost is $35 per person per hour.  So….3 hours would be $105 per person.

Good news: I went to www.globalwildlife.com and reviewed the images other photographers posted.  The cost of $105 for 3 hours quickly became a bargain to have an opportunity to take quality images of so many unique animals, an hour away from Baton Rouge!

I’m planning to take the Pinz Tour to determine if it makes sense to
Offer it to LPS as a Field Trip.

IV. Where: FirstNBC Bank, New Orleans, LA &
Molly, the pony with an artificial leg, St. Rose, LA.

When: June/July 2013 (date not complete as yet)
